About SWAA Rwanda
History
Society for women and AIDS in Africa (SWAA)- Rwanda is a branch of SWAA International and was formed in
1992.
Currently it has 3 operational offices, in the provinces of Kigali-ville, Gitarama and Kibungo.
Mission
SWAA-Rwanda was formed to increase awareness, knowledge, understanding and commitment by the Rwandans society especially women and girls so as to take responsible actions necessary to address issues relating to their rights concerning reproductive health in struggle against the AIDS.
Objectives
To sensitize the Rwandan population about Reproductive health/Rights of women and the
scourge of HIV/AIDS in our country.
To promote positive attitudes towards people with AIDS and their families.
To work in partnership with government and non-government agencies in the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in Rwanda.
Empower women by promoting formal and informal female education and income-generating activities integrated with HIV/AIDS control prevention activities.
To counsel, care and support PLWHA and their families.
To provide youth with information on Sex, sexuality and HIV/AIDS.
To carry out researches on Reproductive health/rights and the impact of HIV/AIDS at all levels of our community.
